Grace at the Well

Reading for Monday, March 1

John 4: 27 – 42

Like Jesus, with the woman at the well, do we go to people and try to help them out of love, into a better life?  Or do we stand back and wonder and talk amongst ourselves about Christians who dive into a mission field that is seedy, dirty, and could possibly stain their “clean clothes”?

The disciples questioned Jesus about this very thing.  They talked and wondered among themselves why He would be talking to such a woman.  He knew what they were thinking and saying.  Jesus always did the will of God and His walk was a very determined and straight path to “finish His work”.

We need to take the time to look at ourselves and see how straight or crooked our path is.  Are we helping the people that need to be helped?  Are we talking to everyone we can, no matter what their history or present lifestyle choice is?  Maybe that one word or one act of kindness can change that person’s life!  Maybe the result of your Christ-like love can then take that one sinner back to more people that need to hear the same kind words.  The results could be the same in our town, as it was for the city in Samaria!  Many, many people were introduced to Christ through the love of Grace to one person who in turn told more people of His love!

Are we willing to take that step or will we sit back and let someone else do the work?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Please help me live my life according to the example set by Christ.  Give me the wisdom and strength to speak of his Love and Grace not only to believers within my church community, but to non-believers in my community that desperately need Him to help them straighten out their lives.  In Jesus name.  Amen
