Maturing Faith

Hebrews 5:1-10

As our thoughts turn to the Lenten season, in the weeks prior to Easter, we should be concerning ourselves with the realization of all that Christ has done for us.

A good place to start our review is with Hebrews 5. Though the author of Hebrews is unknown it leaves no doubt that Christ was chosen by God to be the High Priest. Jesus chose to be obedient to God and to endure the sufferings that this obedience brought about. He was the ultimate mature Christian faith in his ability to recognize the difference between right and wrong and then do what is right.

At times in our lives we will undergo trials and tribulations and we need to force ourselves to make the correct decision, not to make us suffer, but in order to follow Christ and do the right thing and that is to obey God. By doing so you will have the confidence that Jesus Christ is with you and be able to face whatever it is.

When we pray to God through Christ one must be willing to accept the answer and allow it, as it sometimes will, move us out of our comfort zone. Also as we pray in this Lenten season and grow in the Lord we need to strive for a more complete understanding of the faith. In this way, we can expand our capacity to understand and make the Lenten season more meaningful.
