Blessed Assurances
Reading for Monday, March 8
Romans 4:1-12
Once a minister visited an elderly lady who was confined to a hospital bed. As they chatted it was evident that she was a splendid Christian who had lived a rich life and had given a great deal to her children by way of a Christian heritage. However, she was concerned over a sin she had committed in the early days of her life. I told her that God forgives the repentant believer. He forgets as well.
To make this clear, I told her of a father whose son came in and asked what he was reading. He told him he was reading the Bible. The boy said “but dad that is a geography book”. The father said, “I know, but while reading the Bible I found a passage that says “our sins are separated from us and dropped into the depths of the sea”, I decided I would look in the geography book to see just how deep the seas are”.
What a reassurance that our confessed sins are forgiven and separated from us – that far.
Thank you, our God for taking care of us. Amen
